Strong Global MDNS Performances by 7 Carriers Spark Interest in MDNS Report
October 20, 2005 - Manchester, United Kingdom

Telemark Services tracks MDNS performance by seven global carriers. Each of the carriers achieved noteworthy performance indicators in the just released report. Telemark measures customer satisfaction on 32 service attributes. The seven global carriers included in the MDNS report are AT&T, BT, BT Infonet, Cable & Wireless, Equant, MCI, and NTT.

All seven carriers achieved the Telemark Gold standard for Secure Data Transfer. An 'Outstanding' performance is recognised by a Telemark Gold Award. In this latest report, all of the major operators were rated 'Outstanding' for at least one service attribute. The total number of Telemark Gold awards achieved has increased dramatically since the last report to twenty-one.

"The ubiquitous attention to customer satisfaction, especially the requirement for Secure Data Transfer, reflects the increased commoditization of MDNS by customers and carriers," stated Dr. Kerry Tomlinson, author of the report. "The long existence of MDNS services has given carriers an opportunity to gain valuable experience and smooth out processes and procedures to serve customers efficiently and effectively. Such a high standard should be expected of all carriers for MDNS."

Telemark ranks the 32 measured service attributes in priority order from the most important to the least important. The three most important service attributes according to customers' own assessments are grouped in the category Indispensable to Customers. These attributes should be regarded by international operators as their first priority. Consistent problems in any of these areas would be a catalyst to switch supplier.

Excellent performances were recorded for all carriers:

  • BT Infonet received four Telemark Gold Awards and achieved the highest scores for derived, reported and combined overall satisfaction.
  • Equant was a close second for overall satisfaction and received the most Gold awards with five.
  • MCI received four Telemark Gold Awards and achieved ‘Best in Class’ for Indispensable to Customers.
  • NTT was a close second for Indispensable to Customers and received three Telemark Gold Awards.
  • BT received three Telemark Gold Awards.
  • AT&T and Cable & Wireless each received one award in Secure Data Transfer.
